CHICAGO – Two more signees have been added to the 2018-19 recruiting class for the Chicago State University women's track & field and cross country teams as announced today by head coach Craig Collins.

Joining the Cougars are sophomore distance runner Brenda Jepkoech (Eldoret, Kenya) and freshman sprinter Teaira Williams (Orlando, Fla.). Jepkoech will have four years of eligibility in track and three years of eligibility in cross country at CSU beginning in August, and Williams will also have four years of eligibility in track starting this winter.

Jepkoech comes to CSU after competing in cross country as a freshman at Union College, an NCAA Division II school by way of Jackson, Tenn. She earned Gulf South Conference (GSC) Freshman of the Week honors on October 11, 2017 after finishing fifth at Mississippi College's Watson Ford Classic with a time of 23:37. Jepkoech also received USTFCCCA All-Academic and GSC Academic Honor Roll accolades following the season.

Continuing the pipeline to CSU from Orlando's Evans High School, Williams earned two letters as a sprinter which included helping the 4x100-meter relay team capture the 2017 Florida Class 4A Region 1 title en route to finishing second in the state finals. She has primarily competed as a sprinter at Evans in the 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter dashes in addition to running with the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay teams.

"I am pleased to acquire two more talented student-athletes to our women's roster this recruiting season and Brenda Jepkoech & Teaira Williams add to the depth we have been needing for a long time," Collins said. "With Brenda's ability to race competitively in the distance events and Teaira's strength to compete in the short & long sprints symbolize our future is quite bright."

The duo joins earlier signees An'Twanique Kinsler (Pahokee, Fla./Pahokee), Jayla McClure and Majesty Otems as newcomers to the women's team this fall.
