Episode 15 of the Chi State Pod features Jacob Ross, Chicago State's Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Performance and Head Strength & Conditioning Coach.
Prior to joining Chicago State, Ross was a private client personal trainer who previously worked at EFT Sports Performance, catering to top professional athletes, including NFL Pro-Bowlers (such as Devin Hester), NBA All-Stars (like Luol Deng) and Olympic Medalists (Aja Evans).

Now at Chicago State, Ross has placed a premium on building a top-shelf culture in sports performance.
"It's not just the training portion of it," Ross said on the podcast. "It's the work ethic, the discipline, the attitude, the organization of the weight room and the cleanliness of the weight room. If you raise your standards across the board in my department, then your athletes have to raise their standards to meet your standards. If that starts to develop consistently, you start to develop a winning culture."
On the podcast, Ross breaks down:
- His upbringing and path through the training world
- How to train an NFL athlete
- What you can learn from elite performers
- His vision for Chicago State student-athletes
