CHICAGO - Chicago State student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom with 28 student-athletes across 16 sports achieving a perfect 4.0 grade point average (GPA) during the 2024 fall semester while 84 student-athletes earned a GPA between 3.0 and 3.99. In total, 112 student-athletes posted a GPA of a 3.0 or better.
From a team standpoint, 10 Cougars teams posted team GPAs of 3.0 or better, led by women's and men's tennis who posted the top two team GPAs this semester with 3.80 and 3.77 GPAs, respectively. Volleyball (3.71), women's golf (3.60), men's golf (3.56), men's soccer (3.47), women's triathlon (3.40), women's basketball (3.23), women's soccer (3.20) and men's track & field/cross country (3.05) were the other programs which achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or better.
"Our student-athletes continue to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to their academic success, balancing the demands of competition with excellence in the classroom," said Whitley Bradley, Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Success at Chicago State. "The achievements of our 112 student-athletes with a GPA of 3.0 or higher this fall, including 28 with a perfect 4.0, are a testament to their hard work, as well as the support they receive from our coaches, staff, and faculty."
Cougars student-athletes have a long history of succeeding in the classroom and are well represented on the Dean's List, Provost's Honor Roll, President's Honor Roll and the University Honor Roll.
