CHICAGO, Ill. – On May 15, 2025 in the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center, Chicago State University will welcome the 2025 graduates to its proud rosters of alumni. Included in the number was 23 student-athletes. The commencement ceremony will be spirited as friends, family, and fellow alumni pack the house to honor tomorrow's leaders.
Karen Freeman-Wilson, President and CEO of the Chicago Urban League will deliver the commencement address for the Chicago State University graduating Class of 2025. Freeman-Wilson is an innovative public servant and accomplished attorney, was the first Black woman elected mayor in the state of Indiana, serving her hometown of Gary from 2012 to 2019. Her prior leadership roles include Indiana Attorney General, Director of the Indiana Civil Rights Commission, and CEO of the National Association of Drug Court Professionals. A graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School, Freeman-Wilson continues to advocate for economic empowerment, equity, and justice through her work in nonprofit leadership and national service.
The graduating class of CSU Student-Athletes received specialized athletics stole to wear at the commencement ceremony.
