Keith Keahna Named Assistant Director of Communications

CHICAGO, Ill. -  The Chicago State University Department of Athletics has announced the appointment of Keith Keahna as the Assistant Director of Communications. Keahna joins the Chicago State athletics staff after serving two years as a graduate assistant in the Sports Information Department at the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa.

While at the University of Dubuque, he served as the primary communications contact for men's and women's track & field, women's soccer, and men's hockey. His primary responsibilities included assisting the Sports Information office with in-game live statistics collection, live streaming services, game recaps and social media presence in all 21 varsity sports. Keahna was also a key contributor in the installation of the new men's and women's hockey programs at the University of Dubuque, the first NCAA sanctioned hockey programs within the state of Iowa. He helped market, plan, and establish the Key City Collegiate Classic and the University of Dubuque Mississippi River Match-Up which is now two hockey tournaments hosted annually by the University of Dubuque Hockey teams.

Prior to the University of Dubuque, Keahna worked as an undergraduate student worker where he assisted the Iowa Athletics Event Management Staff during football, men's basketball, and women's basketball game days. Keahna also coached track and field for one season in 2023 at Iowa City West High School where he assisted the boys team in the high jump. Keahna and the rest of the Iowa City West Coaching Staff were awarded as the Mississippi Valley Conference coaching staff of year. 

A native of Tama, Iowa, Keahna graduated from the University of Dubuque in 2025 with his Master of Management in Sports Managament and the University of Iowa in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science Sport Receation Management. Keahna was also a high jumper on the men's track and field teams at both the University of Iowa and University of Dubuque. While at Iowa he was a member of three consecutive Big Ten Conference Track and Field Championship Teams.
