Chicago State Volleyball Takes Home AVCA Team Academic Award

CHICAGO - The Chicago State volleyball program has earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for their work in the classroom during the 2024-25 campaign.

The award, which debuted during the 1992-93 academic year, honors both collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom. The requirement for the award is a team maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.

The Cougars were one of four Northeast Conference schools to earn the honor. As a whole, NCAA Division I honored its most-ever recipients (130 programs, or nearly 21 percent of eligible schools). Since the 2000-01 season, the number of teams receiving the award across all levels has increased every year but one.

Chicago State opens the 2025 season on Aug. 30 vs. Merrimack College at the Michigan State tournament.
