CHICAGO, Ill. – The Chicago State University Athletic department has released the men's and women's Cross Country schedules for the upcoming 2025 season. The two teams will compete in five regular season meets on the road and two championship postseason meets.
The Cougars will open the season on Friday, August 29 in Champaign, Illinois at the Fighting Illini Classic hosted by University of Illinois of the Big Ten Conference. The women will compete in a 4K race and the men will compete in a 6K race. This is the first time the Cougars will compete at the University of Illinois in Cross Country. The Cougars then travel to Northern Illinois University for the NIU Huskie Open on September 5. The men finished fifth and the women finished sixth respectively at the NIU Huskie Open in 2024. The Cougars then travel to Normal, Illinois on September 12 for the Redbird Invite hosted by Illinois State for the second straight season.
The Cougars then finish the season with back-to-back meets at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. On September 19, the Cougars will compete in the Bradley Intercollegiate at Detwiller Park. Following a few weeks off, the Cougars return to Peoria on October 17 for the Bradley Pink Classic at the
Chicago State will then travel to Pennsylvania for the NEC Cross Country Championships hosted by Saint Francis on November 1 with 6K women's race and an 8K men's race. In 2024, the Cougars both finished ninth in the team standings at the NEC Championships.
The Cougars will then compete in the NCAA Midwest Regional in Stillwater, Oklahoma hosted by Oklahoma State University on November 14. The men's race will feature a 10K race distance and the women's race will be a 6K.
